Tarot card questions
How many cards are in a tarot deck?
78. There are 22 Major Arcana, numbered from 0 (The Fool) to XXI (The World), and 56 Minor Arcana split into four suits of 14 cards: Ace to Ten, plus the Page, Knight, Queen and King.
What is the difference between the Major and Minor Arcana?
The Major Arcana speak of big life themes and turning points. The Minor Arcana describe everyday situations, and each suit has its own area: Wands for energy and drive, Cups for emotions and relationships, Swords for thoughts and decisions, and Pentacles for work, money and the body.
What does a reversed tarot card mean?
A reversed card is one that appears upside down in a spread. It usually points to the same theme as the upright card, but blocked, delayed, turned inward or in excess. Each card page explains its reversed meaning.
Does the Death card mean someone will die?
No. Death, card XIII, stands for endings and transformation: something closes so something new can begin. At Garden of Arcana we never make predictions about health or death.
